Pine and Stone

Dakota and I got out on Pine and Stone this afternoon and evening. The fish didn't cooperate but we had a good time. We were looking for gills but ended up bass fishing. We both caught a couple gills on dropshots and under floats. Good to get out with you Tim.

Fort Wayne area lakes & fishing areas

Hey all, being a newer resident of Fort Wayne thought I would ask if anyone knows of any good little spots to try that are literally right in the city. I've seen Frank Park has Shoaff lake, and also Lakeside park has a small lake too, has anyone ever tried either of these out by chance? With my 2.5 yr old it is easier to leave the boat at home and just fish off the shore with him and not have the hassle of the boat/trailer, but I'm having a hard time locating good places to go. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Deniston recreational area

My father-in-lawtold me he found a new lake to check out last week called Deniston, it's off of Old Lincoln Highway on the way to Warsaw. (my directions are terrible as I am new to Indiana still) Anyways, we got to the lake and wow it's pretty nice and clean and somewhat small. Got out to the middle and the finder was marking bluegills at about 12-15' down, so put our wigglers on we pulled in about a dozen nice sized gills. Tried crickets topped with beemoths and they were biting on those too. Anyways, the crazy thing was my father-in-law caught a muskie that was probably 2 foot long! We about crapped ourselves, heck I've never seen a muskie before in my life! It was really cool, unfortunately the line broke (8lb test) when I was trying to pull him the boat and he got away, but it was still cool as heck.

Anyways, does anyone fish this lake much? I did catch a nice 19.5" Largemouth on a rapala crankbait, and was a fun fight. Good bluegill fishing too. We noticed they are real deep right now and towards the middle of the lake. Just thought I would report/share.

Bird Watching and Dropshotting

Did a little bird watching this morning, went to work, then came back and got out this evening with my mom for a couple hours. My parents came to visit last week and Dad got sick and he's in the LaPorte Hospital. Had surgery last Monday but things are looking up and hope to get him out soon. Caught a couple real nice gills. The one was 8.5 inches. wigglers a foot off the bottom in about 25-30 ft of water.

Mom Outfished Me!!

Got out on Pine for a couple hours this morning with my Mom. She caught several nice gills on crickets about 15 feet down in 30 ft of water. I caught one dropshotting deep. Saw a rainbow, sunrise and got out fished by mom, don't get much better!
