Two days until Mike and I leave for Canada and Garden Island Lodge on Lady Evelyn Lake again. Mike has set the goal for this trip. Our lodge gives out plaques for Walleye 28" and over, Smallmouth 20" and over, and Pike 36" and over. Mike says our goal is for each of us to get a plaque for each species. I started packing everything today and it is amazing how much less room is needed in one (instead of two) tubs to carry my gear!! Also a smaller suitcase and carry on. I will leave work about 2PM on Thursday and get to Mikes in SE MI about 6 PM. A quick bite from their Pizza Joint (Ten Pin Pizza, Hudson, MI
) and we will be off. We should arrive at the Canada border at Port Huron/Sarnia at about 11PM. Will pick up a couple of liters of Crown Royal Black at the Duty Free store for the trip. -:) Then the all night drive (475 miles) to New Liskeard, ON where we will stay at the Waterfront Inn
. We should arrive at about 10AM on Friday. The have always had our room ready when we arrive, so after a short nap we will grab a bite to eat at the restaurant there (Roosters
) then walk over to the LCBO and grab a small bottle of Crown Royal Black to get us through the evening. Saturday morning we will leave the hotel at about 8:30 and drive the 16 miles to Mowat Landing where the Lodge barge will pick us up and ferry us across the Montreal River to the dam for Lady Evelyn. A quick walk up the hill and we will board the ferry boat for the 27 mile trek to Garden Island. Once at Garden Island our luggage will be unloaded from the luggage boat and we will get settled in our cabin for the week. After getting our gear together and getting our boat assigned, we should be on the water by noon.
I will post results soon after we get back home on Sunday the 28th.
