Indicator Nymphing

Postby NWIangler » May Mon 15, 2017 9:40 pm

So ive been wanting to get into nymphing. Euro nymphing looks to complicated so im gonna stick to simple. I recently found a trout stream with browns in it and ive been wanting to get them on the fly. Ive always caught them on spinners behind rapids. Should i nymph behind the rapids? Ive never caught them in deeper water. And when i watch nymphing videos they always make the indicator deeper than the water. But wouldnt it snag a lot? I could see maybe it would be more natural but how would i know if i got a bite? Sorry for my ignorance but i would really like help. Anything is helpful! Thank you!

One reason they put the indicator higher than the depth of water is the water on top is usually faster than that bellow. The indicator pulls your flies down stream. You want to deal your flies ticking along the bottom.
