Sleds and ATV's on Winona, Pike, and Center?

Postby SkeeterJeff » Feb Mon 07, 2011 10:11 pm

I know as an organization we don't restrict Sleds and ATV's for our tourneys, but does anyone know of any state or local restrictions for these machines on these lakes? I received an e-mail asking about it tonight.

Thanks,

-Jeff

They have been on Winona the last few weeks and I've seen them on Pike. I've never seen one on Center. There are no restrictions that I know of. I have recently been on as little as 6 inches at Winona. Add the weight of 10 inches of slush.....safety becomes an issue in my book. Now Little Eagle and the south end of Winona did not open up during the warm up a few weeks ago....therefore the ice is thicker. Not sure how thick though.

Jeff, here is a link to Indiana snowmobile regulations. I quickly looked over it and saw nothing that would make me think you couldn't. Thay had better be sure they have the ATV or snowmobile registered before doing so.

I replied back to him stating it must meet all state laws/requirements.

HI Gang!
I talked to the DNR and was told that as long as your cool with your atv or sled there will be no restrictions. If someone starts tearing up stuff or rampaging the neighborhood then they will find something to ticket you on. So its cool as long as no one get crazy stupid. There are no restrictions in Indiana but there are speed limits posted on certain lakes. I was told those apply just like they do with boats.
Tight lines I have to go to stinkin work today!!
Hope you guys catch tons!! I need pictures!!
