Quick question for all of you kayak veterans here. Jill and I own two kayaks that we use here on our private lake. Jill's daughter wants to borrow them next weekend to use on Turkey Run. My question is do they need to be registered with the state to use on public waters? Do they need any kind of launch permit to use on public waters. I see where canoes do not have to be registered and titled, but wanted to check with the "Experts" to be sure.
Thanks in advance,
We have to stop saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are seeing it as a challenge!
Are they floating the creek? If so, I don't believe the yaks have to be registered. It is my understanding that you only have to register them if you are on a DNR managed body of water. If you are launching on a river or creek they shouldn't require registration.
With the creek flowing through the park I'm not sure if that changes things. It might be worth a call to the park office just to be safe. I was thinking a DNR permit for a kayak is only $5 (or used to be anyway) and they should sell them at the gate if they wind up needing them.
On rivers and streams I think your good without the permit state park or not but I'm not 100% on that. I don't have the permits on my kayaks as most the time on lakes I just take my boat think I use my kayaks the most on boy scout outings on the lake at maumee scout reservation. I'll float white river now and again when I have the time. I think you would be good but as goose said I'd call down there.
why does everything have to get in the way of fishing and hunting?
