2-13 Shakamak

Postby hilly77p » Feb Fri 14, 2014 9:34 am

Greenedog was gracious enough to let me tag along with him yesterday afternoon. I got out there a little after 1PM and stayed for about 3 hours then had to go do work related stuff. My first ever fish through the ice was a dandy 9" gill. Ended up catching 6 total and took 4 home for the table. Thanks again, Troy for letting me fish with you guys.

Greenedog is a good dude! I love fishing with that guy. It's a shame we have to live 4 hours apart and can only get together a couple times per year. Glad you guys could get together. I assume you will be making a cameo in the next video then
Work is for people who don't know how to fish!

Anytime Patrick! It was nice to meet you and fish together. :tup

My buddy, "Kipper Jim" and my brother Monty where also there, and Chase even showed up after he got done with classes in the evening.
I got there first and started out in the middle of the lake, but the wind was starting to whip up pretty good. I was marking fish at 9' in 15fow, but they weren't taking. When Jim and Patrick got there, we moved to a neck out of the wind.
Supposedly, this was only the second time that hilly77p had been ice fishing. I'm not sure that I'm buying that. ;) He proceeded to out fish us for the next couple hours including a first catch that was a whopper gill. I think he's a natural born ice fisherman!
Monty showed up and went farther down the neck and caught a couple. Patrick had to be going in the evening, so I then moved to his holes and caught a couple. Poor Jim had one bite all evening and missed it. He left right when Chase got there and then the bite picked up a little bit and we actually eked out a small mess. I ended up catching a couple of those big bull gills out of hilly77p's hole!
The fishing has been tough this winter, but I've got to fish with quite a few guys that I had never fished with before and I'm thoroughly enjoying it!
:tup
The video...I'm having some camera issues and missed hilly77p's first through the ice.

That was excellent! Put it on full screen, stoked up the fire in my slippers and watched the whole thing. One of your best vids T-roy!

Yep, Shakamak has terrible fishing, you all should go somewhere else. :pirate

In this video I was using a gopro Hero2 and a sanyo xacti wh1. The sanyo doesn't do bad in warmer weather, but the snow seems to send it all out of whack. :dunno

Another winning video bro. Good times.

Sent from my phone when I am probably supposed to be working!
