Went out looking a bit this morning and only found 1 little moral and this. Was growing out of a fallen tree. It's the size of a dinner plate the bottom is smooth with little bumps, with no fins. Anyone know what it is and is it eatable ?

Dryads saddle, aka pheasants back.

Latin binomial Polyporus squamosas.

Its edible...barely. Raw it has the fragrance of cucumber.
It is tough except when young...when its young it is foamy/ styrofoamy in texture.
Some people swear they like to eat it though.
It is a saoprophyte that can be found on both living and dead wood.

That's what I thought!? LOL!!! Thanks Nobote for the info. My wife is beginning to believe me when I tell her this is way more than a fishing site.
