Indiana Catfish/Hoosier Energy Open at Turtle Creek

Postby Scooter » Mar Tue 05, 2013 3:15 pm

The Indiana Catfish Association along with Hoosier Energy will be having our annual open tournament on March 16th at Turtle Creek Reservoir near Merom Indiana. Hours are 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (We recommend you to be early to check in - gates open at 5:00 am). Boats launch in order of check in.
Cost is only $10 per boat (1-3 people per boat). Payout is as follows:
Big Fish $200 1st Place $500 2nd Place $400 3rd Place $325 4th Place $275 5th Place $250 6th Place $175 7th Place $150 8th Place $100 9th Place $75 10th Place $50 11th Place $50 12th Place $50 13th Place $50 14th Place $50 15th Place $50
Additional prizes: 1st place will receive an anchor pulling system from Ironwood Pacific. There will also be tons of door prizes from our sponsors.

Continued for 2013 - We are asking every person to bring two canned goods to donate to charity. It is not a requirement, but you participation would be appreciated to help those less fortunate.

This tournament has really turned out to be just fantastic. We had 86 boats compete the first year (2009), 130 boats in 2010, 111 boats in 2011 and 117 in 2012. We expect it to continue to grow even larger in the future. Here are some things you should know and do to help check in and weigh in run smoothly.

Before you arrive, print out a copy of the waiver located at http://www.indianacatfish.com/pdf/tcreekwaiver.pdf and have it filled out. This will save you time later. We will also have waivers there if you need them.
When you arrive, there will be ICA officers there inspecting your boat as you wait in line coming through the gate (gate opens at 5:00am.). They will give you a weigh in card and a waiver if needed. Please fill both of these out.
The guards will then direct you to launch your boat and where to park your car.
Next, make your way to the table set up where you will check in and pay your $10 tournament fee and we will collect your waiver and canned goods. Please have weigh in card filled out with your names before coming to pay. We will also have a 50/50 raffle set up here if you want in on it.
We will have a pre-tournament meeting at 8:30 sharp where we will go over all the rules and field any questions you may have. We will also draw for the 50/50 winner. We launch at 9:00 am sharp in order of check in.
After the tournament, come get a bucket for your fish and get in the weigh in line but please wait until we have the scales set up before coming to scale. After weigh in is complete, we will announce the winners.

Here's some info if you plan to pre-fish Turtle Creek. The 1,550-acre reservoir was constructed in 1980 to provide cooling water for Hoosier Energy's Merom Generating Station. The entire lake will be open to fishing starting Feb. 16th, 2011. Gates open at 6:00am normally. They do plan to open the gates at 5:00 am the day of the tournament. The phone # is 812-356-4744. There will be no ramp fees the day of the tournament. Any other time the fees are $1 per person under age 16 - $3 per person age 16-64 - $1 per person over age 65.

For any additional info contact Scott Wiseman at 812-614-1288 or Richard Nungester at (317) 445-3715.

Looks like a good time. I've never fished there before and I've never fished a tournament so we are looking forward to it. Hopefully we have some nice weather that day. :coolth
