11/11/17 and 11/19/17

Postby hilly77p » Nov Mon 20, 2017 11:48 am

The past couple weekends I've decided to hit the strip pits looking for the crappie. The crappie bite has been terrible, but the bass are feeding on minnows right now! Last weekend Grandtheftlunchbox and I hit Hillenbrand in a pit where Tony has had some luck. We nabbed a couple bass before Tony had to head out. I stayed around a little longer and picked up an eater crappie. Had a couple more bites that I thought were crappie and then it shut off again.

Yesterday, I made my way over to the Dugger Unit of the GSSF. Caught a few more bass and a channel. My biggest bass was in the 15-16 inch range, but very skinny. No crappie. I really enjoy vertical fishing, kinda like ice fishing from the yak. I might even bring my ice poles on my next trip as I think I've missed a few light bites the past couple weekends. The spring bobber might increase my catch.

Nice going!!! Glad to see you guys got out! My deer hunting has been a bust so far. I guess I should have been fishing. ;)

Was charmed to learn that the pygmies of the Ituri forest cure eye infections by urinating in the bad eye(Trout Madness,1960).

Season isn’t over yet! Still nabbing crappies/smallies and a random walleye or two up north here. Great catches

Nice catch. Catching bass here has been a struggle. Better luck next yr.
