Monroe Ice Fishing

Postby bloomy » Dec Sat 30, 2017 1:00 pm

Pulled a few small crappie and my first Lake Monroe yellow perch from the Paynetown docks this morning. Ice seems to be forming well in sheltered bays and creek arms. After this weekend I think a good bit of the lake will be fishable. Some other guys out but couldn't see if they were getting any keepers. I kept one perch.

Here's the first little one I caught. The one I ended up keeping was about 8". I'd heard they were in Monroe but didn't totally believe it till yesterday.

As you can see I didn't have an auger so I was stuck on the one dock with open water.

That’s pretty cool. Never have caught one out of there.

Nice. I've heard they were in there and Lemon, but had never seen a picture of one.

I've heard the same, I have seen pictures of perch from lemon. Guy in my Army unit has fished lemon a decent amount and has shown me pictures of perch from lemon. First time I've seen one from monroe.
why does everything have to get in the way of fishing and hunting?
